The CD ROM callbook server at WA8BXN is now permanently going to be here
thanks to the offers of support that have been received from various
clubs and individuals. Contributions may be sent to WA8BXN (name & adr
good on the server - try it out!) Here is how to use it:
Method 1: Send a message using SP REQQTH @ WA8BXN then for the title
put the calls you want looked up. Depending on their length, 4 or 5
will fit in the title (total 39 characters). Put a space between the
calls. A msg will be sent back to you on the BBS you submitted your
request on. Typically the response should be back in about 2 hours.
Method 2: Connect to your nearest netrom compatible node. Then type
C BXNBB2 This will connect you to the bbs that has the drive connected
to it. Use the command PC callsign (example: PC WA8BXN). It takes about
15 to 20 seconds to do the lookup and then you should receive the
response.
The callbook server should be up most of the time except when the system
is down for maintenance (in which case you won't be able to connect to
BXNBB2). At such times use methods 1 and your request will be saved and
handled as soon as the system is back up. Currently the server has only
US calls on it. Should DX calls become available (Buckmaster currently
does not have them) they probably will be added to the server. Please
report any problems you encounter by sending me a msg (WA8BXN @ WA8BXN).
Enjoy! 73 - Mike
